What is Laparoscopic Appendectomy? Appendectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix. The operation is done to remove the infected appendix a condition called as Appendicitis. Acute Appendicitis is an emergency, can lead to perforation and spillage of stool into the abdomen in delayed presentation. What is a gallbladder? Gall bladder is a pear-shaped organ located under the liver in the right upper abdomen and it stores and concentrates bile which helps in digesting fat. What causes gall stones? Gallstones can be single or multiple and are pebble-like and solid. It affects about 10-15% of adults. It affects women more commonly, and is often seen in obese people and those over 40 yrs.
