What is a gallbladder?

Gall bladder is a pear-shaped organ located under the liver in the right upper abdomen and it stores and concentrates bile which helps in digesting fat.

What causes gall stones?

Gallstones can be single or multiple and are pebble-like and solid.

It affects about 10-15% of adults.

It affects women more commonly, and is often seen in obese people and those over 40 yrs.

Gall stones can develop if the bile contains too much cholesterol or bilirubin or if gall bladder does not empty properly.
